Two flooring companies can use identical epoxy materials and achieve completely different results. The difference is preparation. At A1 Epoxy Coatings, our 5-step process is non-negotiable on every job — and it’s why our installations carry an up to 10-year warranty while many competitors offer none.
Step 1: Free Consultation & Assessment
Before any work begins, our team visits your Orlando-area property to assess the concrete, measure the space, identify any cracks or previous coatings, and discuss your design goals. We provide a written, itemized quote — no vague “starting at” numbers, no surprise upcharges after deposit.
Step 2: Concrete Preparation (The Most Important Step)
We use industrial diamond grinders to mechanically abrade the concrete surface to open the pores for maximum epoxy adhesion. We do not use acid etching — it’s a shortcut that leaves inconsistent porosity and dramatically reduces coating lifespan. Any cracks, expansion joints, or surface defects are repaired with appropriate filler systems before coating begins. This step alone determines 70% of the floor’s long-term performance.
Step 3: Moisture Testing
Florida’s climate makes moisture testing essential. We test every slab before applying any coating. If moisture readings are above threshold, we apply a moisture-barrier primer system — this adds cost but prevents the single most common cause of epoxy failure in Florida.
Step 4: Coating Application
Base coat, color media (flake, metallic, or solid), and topcoat are applied in sequence with strict cure-time monitoring between coats. Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) are monitored throughout — we reschedule rather than apply in conditions that compromise quality.
Step 5: Final Walk-Through & Warranty
Once the floor is complete, we walk through the finished project together, review the care instructions, and hand over your written up to 10-year warranty documentation. Light foot traffic is typically safe within 24 hours. Vehicle parking requires 5–7 days for full cure.
